Simone started playing tennis at the age of 7 and never stopped. He turned professional in 2003 and has since built a long and successful career, winning several ATP Challenger titles and establishing himself at the highest level.

In doubles, he made history by winning the 2015 Australian Open alongside Fabio Fognini, becoming part of the first Italian men’s pair to claim a Grand Slam title. He was also a key member of Italy’s Davis Cup victories in 2023 and 2024.

In 2024 and 2025, Simone reached the final of the Australian Open and qualified for the ATP Finals, where he reached the semifinals in 2025 together with Andrea Vavassori. In 2025, the pair also won the ATP 500 titles in Rotterdam, Hamburg, and Washington.

Off court, Simone is a passionate fan of the movie Gladiator and enjoys spending his free time fishing.
